UK University Application Deadlines

Before beginning your application, it is important to familiarise yourself with the UCAS application timetable. Deadlines vary depending on the course and institution you are applying to, and missing a key date can significantly affect your chances of securing a place. Always check the UCAS website to confirm the exact dates for your application cycle.

Key UCAS Deadlines

There are four main dates in the UCAS undergraduate application cycle that Pakistani students should be aware of.

Early October — Conservatoire Applications: Applications for most music conservatoire courses must be submitted in early October. Check directly with your chosen conservatoire for the exact date, as this varies.

15 October — Oxford, Cambridge, Medicine, Dentistry and Veterinary Science: Applications to the University of Oxford and University of Cambridge, and for most courses in medicine, dentistry, and veterinary medicine, must be submitted by 18:00 UK time on 15 October. This deadline falls well before the main January deadline, and late applications to these courses are very rarely considered given the competitiveness of these programmes. Pakistani students applying for these courses should begin their application several months in advance to allow time for their UCAS reference to be completed.

Mid-January — Main Undergraduate Deadline: The equal consideration deadline for the majority of undergraduate courses falls in mid-January, at 18:00 UK time. Applications submitted by this date are guaranteed to be considered equally by universities, regardless of when within the window they were submitted. Many universities and colleges will continue to accept applications from international students until later in the year , but Pakistani students are strongly advised to apply by the January deadline to maximise their chances of securing an offer at their preferred institution.

30 June — Final Application Deadline: Applications received after 30 June are automatically entered into Clearing. Universities are not obligated to consider applications submitted between the January deadline and 30 June, and popular courses may already be full. However, many courses — particularly those with remaining spaces — will still consider late applications. Contact the university directly before submitting a late application to check availability.

UCAS Extra

UCAS Extra opens in late February each year and runs until early July. It is available to students who have used all five of their UCAS choices and are not holding any offers. Extra allows students to add one additional course choice at a time. If the university does not make an offer, the student can apply to another course. For Pakistani students who have not received the offers they hoped for, UCAS Extra can be a valuable route to securing a place before Clearing opens.

UCAS Clearing

UCAS Clearing opens in early July each year and runs through to mid-October. It is open to students who applied after the June deadline, did not receive any offers, or did not meet the conditions of their offers after receiving exam results. Clearing Vacancies are published from early July, and places on popular courses fill quickly. Pakistani students using Clearing should also be mindful of Student visa processing times, as the gap between Clearing and the course start date in September can be short.

Get Expert Guidance

Pakistani students should begin their UCAS application earlier than the stated deadlines to account for additional steps that do not apply to domestic applicants. These include gathering supporting documents such as certified transcripts, obtaining an IELTS score that meets the university’s entry requirements, and allowing sufficient time for a Student visa application once an offer has been accepted.

StudyIn advisors can help Pakistani students plan their application timeline to ensure all deadlines are met comfortably.
