UCAS Clearing
UCAS Clearing gives Pakistani students a second chance to secure a UK university place. StudyIn provides free support throughout the entire Clearing process.
What is UCAS Clearing?
UCAS Clearing is the process by which UK universities fill remaining available places on courses for September entry. It is open to students who are unable to secure a university place through the main UCAS application cycle for one of the following reasons:
- They applied after the June UCAS deadline
- Their exam results did not meet the conditions of a conditional offer
- No offers were received, or no offers were accepted
- They chose to decline their firm place and explore alternative options
Clearing opens in early July each year. Most students enter Clearing on A-Level results day, once they have their grades in hand. Places can fill quickly on popular courses, so it is important to act promptly.
How StudyIn Can Help with UCAS Clearing
StudyIn can assist Pakistani students in finding available courses at UK universities during Clearing. Our advisors will contact institutions on your behalf, enquire about available places, and support you in making the right choice. This service is completely free for international students.
1. Receive Free Clearing Advice
Arrange a free consultation with StudyIn to discuss available courses for September entry across UK universities. Our advisors will go through the Clearing list with you, covering different subject options, university locations, and which institutions are likely to be a strong fit for your qualifications and interests.
2. We Will Contact Universities on Your Behalf
Once we have established which courses and universities you are interested in, your personal StudyIn consultant will contact those institutions directly to find out whether they are willing to consider your application. This removes the pressure of making those calls yourself and ensures the right information is communicated first time.
3. Have Your UCAS Details Ready
Ensure you have your UCAS personal ID number available at all times during Clearing, as this will be required when universities are contacted on your behalf. Your ID number can be found on the welcome page and choices page within your UCAS Hub account. You should also have your exam results and a copy of your personal statement to hand.
4. Receiving an Informal Offer
After we have contacted a university on your behalf, you may receive an informal offer of a place. If you receive an informal offer, you will usually need to confirm it within 24 hours , so it is important to be prepared and decisive. If you are unfamiliar with the institution, take a little time to research the university and its location before committing.
5. Adding a Clearing Choice to UCAS
If you decide to accept an offer, StudyIn can help you add your Clearing choice through your UCAS Hub account. You can only hold one Clearing choice at a time, but if a university does not confirm your place, you are free to add another. If you originally paid for a single-choice application, an additional fee of £4.50 is required to proceed with Clearing.
UCAS Clearing Guidance
Pakistani students using Clearing should be aware that securing a place through Clearing does not remove the need for a Student visa. Once a place is confirmed, you will need to apply for your visa promptly, as Clearing places are typically taken up in August and visa processing takes time.
StudyIn advisors can help ensure your visa application is submitted without delay.
