What are A-Levels?
The Advanced Level, universally referred to as the A-Level, is a qualification offered by educational institutions across the UK. In Scotland, students take the Higher and Advanced Higher of the Scottish Qualifications Certificate. A-Levels are typically studied over two years and are the primary qualifications UK universities use to assess a student’s eligibility for undergraduate study.
A-Level Programmes in the UK
A-Levels can be studied at secondary schools, sixth form colleges, and further education colleges, many of which also offer a broader range of vocational courses. The A-Level is the most widely used qualification by UK universities when assessing an applicant’s suitability for a degree programme, and is recognised by leading universities around the world.
A-Level Entry Requirements for Pakistani Students
International students typically need to demonstrate a good standard of secondary education from their home country, along with sufficient English language ability. Most colleges will require a minimum IELTS score of 5.0 to 5.5, though this varies by institution.
Students who do not yet meet the English language requirement may be able to complete a pre-sessional English course before beginning their A-Levels.
