Undergraduate DegreesĀ in the UK

International undergraduate applications to all UK universities are managed by UCAS (Universities and Colleges Admissions Service). As an official UCAS centre, StudyIn’s professional university consultants can guide Pakistani students through the entire application process, from choosing the right course to submitting a competitive application.

How Long Do Undergraduate Degrees Last?

Most international students undertake a three-year undergraduate Bachelor’s degree, combining seminars, workshops, and lectures across a range of modules. Certain modules are optional, allowing students to tailor their studies to their interests and career goals.

Some undergraduate degrees, such as those in science and engineering, can take up to four years to complete. The introduction of fast-track two-year degrees also means that motivated students can complete their undergraduate qualification and enter the workforce a full year earlier than the standard route.

Types of Undergraduate Degree

In addition to the standard three-year Bachelor’s degree, a joint or dual honours degree allows students to split their studies across two different subjects, broadening their module choices and expanding their career options after graduation.

A sandwich degree lasts four years and includes a one-year work placement in a field related to your area of study, providing valuable professional experience alongside your academic qualification.

Shorter Undergraduate Qualifications

  • Certificate of Higher Education (CertHE) – A one-year full-time qualification, or two years part-time.
  • Diploma of Higher Education (DipHE) – A two-year full-time qualification equivalent to the first two years of a Bachelor’s degree.

Neither the CertHE nor DipHE lead directly to postgraduate study, but students who complete either qualification can transfer into a full three-year degree programme if they choose to continue.

Undergraduate Entry Requirements for Pakistani Students

Entry requirements vary by university and subject, but Pakistani students will typically need to demonstrate strong secondary school results, a minimum IELTS score of 6.0 to 6.5, and a competitive personal statement. Some courses, particularly medicine, law, and dentistry, have additional admissions tests and interview requirements. StudyIn’s advisors can help Pakistani students identify the right course for their academic background and ensure their application is as strong as possible.

Where Can I Study an Undergraduate Degree?

UK universities offer world-class teaching, state-of-the-art facilities, and degrees that are globally recognised by employers and institutions alike.
