Sports Global Excellence Scholarship
The Sports Excellence Scholarship is aimed at high performing student athletes who wish to combine high performance sport alongside undergraduate or postgraduate taught study at the University of Gloucestershire. This is applied as a tuition fee waiver designed to reward sporting excellence. The Scholarships are open only to international fee-paying students.
Applicants must be able to demonstrate they are performing at the required level in the performance sport.

Amount
The value of the scholarship will be £7,500 (spread over the 3 years) for Undergraduate students and £5,000 for Postgraduate students.

Eligibility
This is for new, self-funded international tuition fee-paying students studying full-time. Undergraduate and Postgraduate Taught students must be studying on-campus. The scholarship is applicable to any undergraduate and postgraduate taught course starting in September 2026, studied for a minimum of 2 semesters.
Terms and conditions

The scholarship is only available for the named programme in the offer letter and beginning in September 2026 and for the following high-performance sports: women’s soccer, men’s basketball and volleyball. Other sports may be considered.

Scholarships are non-transferable.

Students must be studying on campus, full-time on either an undergraduate degree for a minimum of 3 years, or for a postgraduate taught degree, for a minimum of 2 semesters.

Applicants must be international fee payers and must be self-funding (see note 1) for at least 100% of tuition fee.

The Undergraduate Scholarship is valid as a tuition fee waiver split over the 3 years of tuition fees.

The Postgraduate Scholarship is valid for the first year of tuition fees.

Excellent work experience and/or portfolio will be considered in addition to grades.

Eligible applicants must have applied and meet set entry criteria. An interview may be required.

Applicants must accept the scholarship by paying the advance tuition fee amount by 9 July 2026.

Applicants must not be in receipt of any other scholarship from the University of Gloucestershire.

Scholarships will not be awarded to deferred applications.

An interview may be required. The allocation of the scholarship is competitive, and so not all applications received will be successful. Scholarships will be awarded by the Sports Scholarship Group comprising of coaching staff. Applicants must meet the set and required entry criteria as well as performance criteria.

Students receiving the Sports Global Excellence Scholarship will also be subject to the sport scholarship terms and conditions.

On commencing studies at the University, scholarship holders will be contacted by the University, and be required to periodically participate in marketing activity that includes (but is not limited to) video and photography content creation, blog commentary, supporting recruitment events.
