Overview

Western Oregon University is a public university located in Monmouth, Oregon. It was established in 1856 as Monmouth University by the Disciples of Christ pioneers. The university offers bachelor's degrees through its two colleges, namely the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and the College of Education. Master's degrees are available in Education, Criminal Justice, Music, Rehabilitation Counseling, and Management and Information Systems. 

Both colleges are further divided into academic divisions. The College of Education has three divisions, many of which deliver award-winning programs, whereas the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences offers 30 bachelor's degrees through the seven divisions.

 

 

 

 

 

Services

The university offers various services that are intended to make the life of students easier and more enjoyable. There are centres for Multicultural Student Services and Programs, Leadership Opportunities, Student Enrichment Programs, Student Jobs, and many others. The Peter Courtney Health and Wellness Center takes care of the health of students while they can take up career guidance through the Service Learning and Career Development division.

Monmouth is a city in the Polk County of Oregon and is part of the Salem Metropolitan Statistical Area. It is a small college town and offers a close-knit community with a supportive environment. The city may be small, but it has outdoor recreational opportunities and a few restaurants and shops that can be explored by students during their free time.
