Overview

Brockenhurst College is a college offering a wide range of courses, from A-Levels to diplomas for about 2,800 16 to 18-year-olds, of which about 5 per cent are from overseas. It can trace its roots back to a teaching centre established in 1909 and is located in the New Forest National Park in the south of England. It is one of the highest-rated colleges in the UK by OFSTED, boasting a 99 per cent pass rate for A-Levels.

In 2013, 26 per cent of Brockenhurst students went on to Russell Group universities, among the most prestigious in the UK. Brockenhurst provides specialist guidance for very gifted students on its Gifted & Talented programme.

Students on this programme receive unique support with applications and interviews at the best universities, including Oxford and Cambridge. Small class sizes (average 16.4) and regular one-to-one tutorial meetings also benefit the long-term management of students. A range of scholarship opportunities for the most able and committed students is also available.

Services

Arriving international students are given a full induction programme to help them settle in and meet new teachers and friends. English language classes are included in all study options and can be tailored to specific exams, like IELTS or TOEFL. Students are assigned a personal tutor who can offer individual advice and support, as well as a progress manager to monitor achievement during studies. At the appropriate time, all students are offered university and careers guidance.

Accommodation

The college does not have any on-site accommodation, but does offer an option to allow international students to take part in a homestay with local families. This allows students to improve both language fluency and immersion in British culture.
