The Universities and Colleges Admissions Service, also known as UCAS, is the connecting system designed to be the middle man between a student and university. If you wish to apply to almost any\u00a0university or college in the UK<\/a>, it needs to be done using a UCAS application form.<\/p>\n

UCAS was founded in 1961 when universities in the UK decided they wanted a system to organise all applications to their\u00a0undergraduate<\/a>\u00a0or\u00a0postgraduate<\/a>\u00a0courses, agreeing on a standardised application form, with a limited number of\u00a0course choices<\/a>\u00a0available to students.<\/p>\n

What do UCAS do?<\/h2>\n

Students are only able to complete one application form\u00a0per UCAS cycle, during which\u00a0they can select up to five universities to apply to. In addition to selecting\u00a0where<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0what<\/a>\u00a0a student wishes to study, a\u00a0personal statement<\/a>\u00a0is also required for universities to get of an overview of you as a potential enrolee at their institution.<\/p>\n

UCAS Deadlines<\/h2>\n

There are a variety of different\u00a0UCAS application deadlines<\/a>\u00a0to meet depending on the type of course and\u00a0study level<\/a>\u00a0you wish to pursue. For example, the\u00a0University of Cambridge<\/a>,\u00a0University of Oxford<\/a>,\u00a0medicine<\/a>,\u00a0veterinary medicine<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0dentistry<\/a>\u00a0applicants must apply by October 15th each year, but for the majority of courses for EU students, the 15th January is when all applications must be submitted.<\/p>\n

International students from outside the EU can still submit their application up to the June 30th.<\/p>\n
