FAQs

Do Filipino students need to take the GMAT or GRE for a UK Master’s or MBA?

Most MSc programmes in the UK do not require the GMAT or GRE. However, competitive MBA and Master’s in Management courses at top schools such as London Business School or Oxford Saïd often expect it. A strong GMAT score, usually 600 or above, can strengthen your application if your undergraduate grades are not at the very top level.

What are the minimum academic requirements for Filipino students?

UK universities generally expect a recognised Bachelor’s degree from the Philippines with grades equivalent to at least 55–65%. For the most selective schools, a stronger record closer to 60% or higher is preferred. Applicants with several years of professional experience, particularly for MBA programmes, may find universities more flexible with academic requirements.

What IELTS score is needed for a UK Business School?

The standard requirement is an overall IELTS score of 6.5 to 7.0, with no band lower than 6.0. Leading institutions such as Oxford, Cambridge, and London Business School usually ask for 7.0 or above. Some universities may waive the IELTS if your undergraduate degree was fully taught in English.

Are scholarships available for Filipino students?

Yes. Filipino students can apply for major international awards such as Chevening, Commonwealth, and GREAT Scholarships, as well as merit-based funding offered directly by UK universities. In addition, some Philippine foundations and international trusts provide support for postgraduate study abroad.

Can Filipino students stay and work in the UK after graduating?

Graduates can apply for the Graduate visa, also known as the Post-Study Work visa, which allows them to remain in the UK for two years after completing their degree. No job offer or minimum salary is required, and graduates can work in any sector or later switch to a Skilled Worker visa.

What is the average salary in the Philippines after a UK MBA or MSc?

Salaries vary depending on the school, industry, and prior experience. Graduates of top UK business schools often earn around ₱2 million per year, with some packages exceeding ₱3.5–4 million. Consulting, finance, and technology roles tend to offer the highest starting salaries, and long-term career value is reflected in international rankings such as the Financial Times.
