Overview

Edith Cowan University (ECU) is a globally recognised higher education institution located in Western Australia. It has earned consecutive five-star ratings for undergraduate teaching quality for the past 18 years. ECU is also well known for its strong student support, excellent learning resources, and innovative skills development programmes that encourage creativity and critical thinking across eight subject areas.

Courses at ECU are developed in consultation with industry and include work-integrated learning placements, fieldwork, and networking opportunities. Depending on their interests and previous qualifications, students can pursue undergraduate or postgraduate degrees in the following areas:

Services

Edith Cowan University is renowned for its student support services, which are tailored to help international students adjust to their new life and overcome study and personal challenges that may arise. The Student Life directorate strives to ensure a seamless student experience by delivering face-to-face enquiry services, course advice, health and counselling services, student success programmes, and careers services.

Additionally, the university’s Centre for Learning and Teaching provides a variety of learning support services to help students prepare for university courses. Master’s and doctoral students can reach out to the Graduate Research Services office for support through training workshops, peer-to-peer collaborations, seminars, academic events, and social activities.

Accommodation

Edith Cowan University offers on-campus accommodation – known as student ‘villages’ – at its three campuses in Western Australia, where students can access single and multi-room units in a modern and friendly environment. As the student villages are located on campus, students can also conveniently access all campus facilities, local shops, sport and recreation facilities, and public transport services. 

The university also operates an off-campus housing referral service through the ECU Village website. Students who wish to live off campus can rent a property, board with a local family, or share a house with friends.

Location

Edith Cowan University's three campuses are spread across Western Australia, in Joondalup, Mount Lawley, and Bunbury. Easily accessible by public transport and home to state-of-the-art facilities, the three campuses provide students with a well-rounded student experience. Students at ECU can benefit from childcare facilities, computer labs, medical centres, libraries, cafes and bars, hair and beauty salons, sports and fitness centres, and bookshops. 

ECU campuses dot the beautiful Western Australian coastline, basking in the limitless sunshine that Perth has to offer. The city’s famously warm climate allows students to engage in fantastic outdoor activities and social opportunities, including surfing, hiking, water skiing, cycling, and sailing. 

International students travelling to Australia can book their flights to the Perth Airport, located about 20 minutes away from ECU Mount Lawley and about half an hour away from ECU Joondalup. ECU’s free Airport Arrival Service helps students arriving in Australia by arranging for someone to meet them at the airport and guide them to their accommodation.
