UCL has consolidated its standing as a leading institution for environmental and social impact, placing first in the UK, second in Europe, and third worldwide in the QS World University Rankings: Sustainability 2026.
The QS Sustainability Rankings evaluate more than 2,000 institutions on measures including environmental performance, social impact and governance. UCL recorded notable success across several indicators. It ranked first globally for Knowledge Exchange, reflecting its collaborative research with partners such as the National Trust and the European Space Agency, and its contributions to fields ranging from climate modelling to sustainable aviation.
The university also performed strongly in Health and Wellbeing, securing joint fourth globally and joint first in the UK, recognising initiatives including mental health support services and its participation in the University Mental Health Charter.
