Overview

Trinity College Dublin, founded in 1592, is Ireland’s oldest university and one of Europe’s most prestigious institutions. Located in the heart of Dublin, Trinity consistently ranks among the top 100 universities globally and is widely recognised as the leading university in Ireland.

The university is home to a diverse community of over 22,000 students and more than 4,000 staff, with international students representing over 120 nationalities. Its historic 47-acre campus blends cobbled squares and classical architecture with modern research facilities and innovation centres. Trinity is particularly known for its strengths in disciplines such as business, law, engineering, health sciences, and the humanities.

Academic structure is organised across 24 schools, offering a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The university’s library system, one of the largest in Ireland, includes the iconic Old Library, home to the Book of Kells.

A key differentiator is Trinity’s strong focus on employability. Its careers service is among the most highly regarded in Europe, and approximately 95% of graduates progress to employment or further study within six months. Students also benefit from Ireland’s post-study work opportunities under the Third Level Graduate Scheme.

Services

International students are supported through Trinity Global, which provides pre-arrival advice, visa guidance, and orientation programmes. A standout feature is the personal tutor system, where every undergraduate is assigned a faculty member for academic and pastoral support throughout their degree.

Additional services include the Student Learning Development team, counselling, health services, and peer mentoring programmes. English language and academic writing support are available where needed.

Beyond academics, Trinity offers over 200 student societies and sports clubs, spanning areas such as debating, entrepreneurship, performing arts, and cultural groups. This wide range of activities supports integration and helps students build a strong sense of community.
