オーストラリアでも名高い公立大学であるチャールズ・ダーウィン大学は、ノーザン・テリトリーにあるダーウィンにメイン・キャンパスを持ち、ほか８か所に衛星キャンパスがあります。Centralian College、Menzies School of Health Research、Northern Territory Universityの３大学が合併し、2003年に設立されました。
チャールズ・ダーウィン大学では学士課程と大学院課程をともに提供しており、その分野は、教育学、ビジネス、工学、衛生・保健学、科学、法学、政策学など、多岐にわたります。特に環境科学や熱帯衛生・伝統医療、社会・公共政策の分野に力を入れており、研究とイノベーションに注力していることが特徴的です。
