Overview

Swansea University is based in south Wales and currently has almost 17,000 students enrolled on a large single campus. Traditional strength lies in research output across the areas of Life Sciences, Health and Engineering. The University boasts one of the only supercomputers in the world dedicated to life sciences research, and the physics department benefits from strong links with the Large Hadron Collider at CERN.

Established in 1920, Swansea University has international links with over 100 institutions worldwide, allowing students to study abroad and researchers to collaborate on a larger scale. The University was named University of the Year by the Whatuni? Student Choice awards in 2014 and was given five stars for its excellence by the QS University Guide.

Services

At the beginning of the year, Swansea runs a meet and greet service from Heathrow Airport as well as a week-long induction programme to help students settle in. During term time, the English Language Training Service offers personalised English language support, as well as numerous pre-sessional courses.

The university also runs Student Accommodation Swansea, which arranges shared houses for students in the city, as well as assisting students in finding private rented accommodation.
