\u201cLeeds is not\u202fonly\u202fstudent friendly with regards to social\u202flife,\u202fbut\u202falso\u202fthe\u202finternational community\u202fat\u202fLeeds is\u202fvast\u202fand friendly, instantly making it an easy second home. You\u2019ll find that people are very respectful of\u202fthe\u202fculture and customs\u202fof international students. This is one reason why I found it so easy to make new friends in Leeds.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith\u202fregards to the\u202fsafety, based on our personal experience,\u202fLeeds has been one of the\u202fmost\u202fwelcoming and secure places to live in\u202fUK. The Leeds\u202fUniversity Union\u202f(LUU)<\/a>\u202fhas been actively engaged in ensuring\u202fthe\u202fsafety\u202fand welfare\u202fof the students on and off campus.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen it comes to the\u202facademic experience, the\u202fUniversity ensures to deliver\u202fa blended classroom experience of both offline and online classes.\u202fDespite the pandemic the University ensured\u202fthat\u202fwe\u202fundertake small\u202fon ground seminars\u202ffrequently and that they are conducted safely.\u202fAll students are also provided with personal and peer tutors, career counselors and supervisors to help them in each stage of their study.\u202fThere is also mental health support provided to all students if you ever need to talk to someone.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen deciding to study abroad, you ask yourself so many questions such as\u202f\u2018what is the University going to be like?\u2019,\u202f\u2018how welcoming will the city be?\u2019\u202fand\u202f\u2018how will you manage your expenses?\u2019. Harini and I went through the same range of emotions before we arrived in 2020. From our journey as newbies to now being familiar with every nook and corner, we have discovered that Leeds is one of the most affordable\u202fcities\u202ffor students in the UK.<\/p>\n

\u201cMost importantly, food\u202fis a huge hit with students in Leeds. The reason is that there are so many varieties of cuisines to try, be it through different restaurants or international grocery stores.\u202fYou can find high end dining, student discounts and cheap take-aways if on a budget- all covering vegetarian, vegan, halal or anything you\u2019re looking for.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen it comes to\u202fclothing, Leeds has shopping malls that houses the best fashion brands, but at the same time hosts unique vintage stores that offers trendy pieces and kilo sales for as cheap as\u00a0\u00a315 per kg.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor the everyday\u202fcommute, you can find student discounts on buses, taxis and trains. However,\u202fwe think the best way to discover Leeds is by walking! The central location of the University makes it an ideal place for students to head towards the\u202fcity\u202fcentre\u202farea as well as travel to other cities in the UK.<\/p>\n
