Overview

The University of Regina (U of R) is a leading public research institution in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan, with a history dating back to 1911 when it was established as a private denominational high school of the Methodist Church of Canada. It became a junior college affiliated with the University of Saskatchewan in 1925 before gaining full university status in 1974.

The University of Regina is home to three federated colleges, Campion College, Luther College, and the First Nations University of Canada, each contributing to the academic diversity and cultural life of the institution. Together, they create an inclusive and supportive environment that welcomes students from across Canada and around the world.

One of the University’s defining features is its emphasis on experiential learning. With more than 40 programmes offering co-operative education placements, along with internships and professional work experiences, students gain practical skills while earning their degrees. These opportunities help to bridge the gap between classroom learning and professional practice, giving graduates a competitive edge in the job market.

A distinctive initiative is the UR Guarantee Programme, launched in 2009. This unique offering assures participating students of a successful career start after graduation by combining academic study with tailored career development and personal growth opportunities.

Services

The University of Regina conducts a yearly International Student Orientation Programme in the fall season to guide international students for a perfect start to their academic journey. Students can also find a comprehensive International Guide with all the relevant information on the U of R programmes and the Canadian education system. Students can also participate in various extracurricular events such as dedicated music shows, intramurals, theatre and club sports.
