Overview
The College of the Rockies was established in 1975 as a Canadian public community college. The College has its main campus in Cranbrook, along with regional campuses in Creston, Golden, Fernie, Invermere, and Kimberley.
Around 2,500+ on-campus students and 1,000+ online students benefit from the International Studies Certificate course and the four-year degree, Bachelor of Business Administration in Sustainable Business Practices. The College implements health-promotion activities for campus health and well-being in compliance with the Okanagan Charter framework.
The College of the Rockies campus facilities include a library, dorms, medical centre, gym and cafe. Of the two campuses at Cranbrook, the main campus houses the administrative departments, student services, and business programs. The Gold Creek campus is the centre for continuing education, health and safety courses, and the timber framing program, and five regional campuses offer a variety of offerings.
Services
The College's International Department assists students with travel arrangements, accommodation for students with learning disabilities, student orientation, peer tutoring and English language learning programs.
Medical insurance plans, such as “Guard Me”, are offered to BC Medical Services Plan (MSP) students. Additionally, the Student Support Program (SSP) “keep.meSAFE” helps students take care of their mental health.
Accommodation
Cranbrook campus offers five secure housing. More than 100 students live in buildings near the Kootenay Centre's main entrance. Students residing in Cranbrook Community Forest have easy access to recreational trails right outside their doors. The College also offers assistance in finding short-term summer housing and off-campus housing options.
Location
College of the Rockies consists of seven campuses located in the traditional territory of the Ktunaxa population in the southeastern part of British Columbia, Canada. Covering an area of 45,000 square kilometres, the Rocky Mountain Trench consists of high mountain ranges separated by important valleys and water systems.
Canadian Rockies International Airport (YXC) is closest to the Cranbrook campus, from where BC Transit provides affordable bus service to the college's regional campuses.
