As an international role model for successful partnerships between academia and the private and public sectors, WMG develops advancements nationally and globally, in applied science, technology and engineering, to deliver real impact to economic growth, society and the environment
WMG’s education programmes focus on lifelong learning of the brightest talent, from the WMG Academies for Young Engineers, degree apprenticeships, undergraduate and postgraduate, through to professional programmes.
An academic department of the University of Warwick, and a centre for the HVM Catapult, WMG was founded by the late Professor Lord Kumar Bhattacharyya in 1980 to help reinvigorate UK manufacturing and improve competitiveness through innovation and skills development.
Location
The University of Warwick is located in the centre of England, on the edge of Coventry and the border of Warwickshire. One side of the campus faces a lively contemporary city, whilst the other overlooks beautiful English countryside. Coventry is England’s eighth largest city and offers excellent shopping, restaurants and nightlife. Just south of the University of Warwick lie Shakespeare’s Stratford-upon-Avon and historic Warwick itself, home to Britain’s finest mediaeval castle.
The University of Warwick’s central location means it is easily accessible by road, rail and air: Birmingham International Airport is only 20 minutes from campus, and London is only 65 minutes away by train.
